Mikael Åkerfeldt On Fitness, Fighting & More
Opeth leader Mikael Åkerfeldt was recently interviewed by Fight + Music, an offshoot of the boxing/MMA-focused Fight Network. In the clip, which you can watch above, he discusses how Opeth got their start, how he prepares to go onstage, and more—but he also talks about whether he’s ever been in a fight, what his health and exercise routines are, and other unexpected subjects. Neurosis with Blast, YOB and The Body in San Francisco
Regency Ballroom San Francisco Neurosis with Blast, YOB and The Body Day: Sun, Dec 29, 2013 Showtime: 8:00 PM Doors open: 7:00 PM mark your calendars It is said that great art has the power to take us outside of ourselves and bring us closer to ourselves simultaneously. Final track on my show at KQNY 91.9FM – VHOL
VHOL – Illuminate the voice of Mike Scheidt kills it https://soundcloud.com/stereogum/vh-l-illuminate
time for Sleep – Jerusalem Part 6
When I first heard Sleep it was Jerusalem Part 1 and only after hearing it did I learn that the 7 tracks Jerusalem Part 1 thru 7 were actually originally one tracK called Dopesmoker. The record label was none too happy with it. Hence the break up of tracks. I have the full Dopesmoker in my collection it’s an epic.
And now Shroud Eater – The Star and the Serpent
Love this band and this track is sooooo heavy DEAD ENDS by Shroud Eater
and up next Amorphis – Crimson Wave
One of the most varied and melodic Finnish metal bands. First album of theirs I bought was nearly 20 years ago.
Now playing Windhand – Feral Bones
Amazing new album Soma from Windhand. I love the flat tones and expression in Dorthia’s voice. Soma by Windhand
Now playing Elder – Knot
Would love to see these guys one day
Next up Agalloch – She Painted Fire Across the Skyline, Pt. 1
The excellent Agalloch, who I’ve seen twice, both times only partial shows…one day
Now playing Uzala – Dark Days
Uzala are just off a tour and it was a pleasure to see them again in Portland last month. This track is off their new cut Tales of Blood and Fire Tales of Blood & Fire by UZALA
First up tonight – Subrosa – No Safe Harbor
Saw SubRosa on Sunday night in Sacramento, they were mind blowing. Sadly all their gear has been stolen and the tours canceled. There’s a fundraiser to help them out http://www.youcaring.com/other/raise-money-for-subrosa-after-being-robbed-on-tour-in-ca/103094 More Constant Than The Gods by SubRosa
